How to Join The Mont Pelerin Society


The Mont Pelerin Society (MPS) is pleased to invite nominations for new members during calendar year 2026. The MPS welcomes nominations for membership from those who are able to show an understanding of and commitment to the aims and values of the Society, particularly those who have worked, or who currently work, in academia.

Among its members, The Mont Pelerin Society has had nine Nobel Prize winners, distinguished scholars in economics, political science, philosophy, and history, internationally renowned intellectuals, philanthropists, intellectual entrepreneurs, policy makers, and policy analysts.

In evaluating new membership applications, the most important criteria will be demonstrated commitment to the aims and values of the Society and professional accomplishment in one’s chosen field.


Eligibility Criteria for Nomination to New Membership

Please note the following requirements for eligibility to nomination:

  • Nominees must have attended at least two previous meetings as a guest.*
  • Nominations for new membership require the support of at least two (2) members in good standing with the Society.

*Exceptional candidates who have previously attended one meeting as a guest and will attend their second meeting at the 2026 Biennial Congress and General Meeting are also eligible for consideration of nomination to membership.


Instructions for Nominations to New Membership

Individuals seeking nomination to membership should complete the following steps:

  • Complete and Submit the 2026 New Member Nomination Form.

  • Send an email to the MPS at mps@ttu.edu to provide the following documents in PDF format:
    • Letter of IntentA brief letter from the nominee describing his/her qualifications for membership and interest in joining the Society.
    • Current Resume/CV.
    • Two Recommendation Letters from Current MPS Members
      (nominees may submit the letters with the other documents or the nominating member may send the letter).

Nominations Deadline, Review, and Candidacy to Membership

The Society will accept nominations for new membership through Friday, May 15, 2026.

Following the deadline, the MPS Membership and Recruitment Committee will review all eligible nominations and make recommendations to the Society’s Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors will review nominations and make decisions on the candidacy of each nominee at its meeting hosted in conjunction with the 2026 MPS Biennial Congress and General Meeting, October 11-15, 2026 in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States of America.

Successful nominees will be invited to join the Society following the October 2026 meeting.
