How to Join The Mont Pelerin Society

The Mont Pelerin Society (MPS) welcomes applications for membership from those who are able to show an understanding of and commitment to the aims and values of the Society, particularly those who have worked, or who currently work, in academia.

Among its members, The Mont Pelerin Society has had nine Nobel Prize winners, distinguished scholars in political science, philosophy, and history, internationally renowned intellectuals, philanthropists, intellectual entrepreneurs, policy makers, and policy analysts.

In evaluating new membership applications, the most important criteria will be demonstrated commitment to the aims and values of the Society and professional accomplishment in one’s chosen field.

The MPS Membership Committee will discuss nominations and make recommendations to the MPS Board of Directors.

The MPS Board of Directors will make a decision on all nominations at its regularly scheduled meeting during the MPS Biennial Congress and General Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana (United States of America), October 11-16, 2026.

Nominees will be informed of the status of their nomination following the conclusion of the 2026 MPS Biennial Congress and General Meeting.

To be considered for membership, a candidate must:

  • Be invited by a current member in good standing to complete the online Membership Nomination Form.
  • Have attended at least two previous meetings as a guest.*
  • Provide a one-page letter of intent describing one’s interest in joining the Society.
  • Provide a one-page CV.
  • Provide nomination support letters from two current MPS members in good standing.

The Membership Nomination Form will become available in early January 2026. The deadline for complete nominations will be Friday, May 15, 2026.

Please address any inquiries about the nomination process to the MPS Office of the Treasurer at mps@ttu.edu.

*Exceptional candidates who have previously attended one meeting as a guest and will attend their second meeting at the 2026 Biennial Congress and General Meeting are also eligible for consideration of nomination to membership.
